BREACH PROFILE FOR THE MONTH JANUARY 2016
ITV, Abuja was fined One Hundred Thousand Naira (₦100,000) for the breach of Section 3.6.1 and 3.7.10 of the Code in a musical scene where a lady was dancing (twerking) with her butt cheeks expose, jiggling it up and down in front of the artist (Sexy Steel) on the programme One Lagos Fiesta aired on January 29, 2016.
Wazobia FM, Abuja was fined One Hundred Thousand Naira (₦100,000) owing to the following violations of the Code: In programme Viju Milk Half Hour aired on January 12, 2016; presenter, Oche the King hyped for Viju milk saying “Viju milk banana e go protect you against kidney cancer and plenty plenty other things”; breaching Sections 7.0.15 and 7.3.5 of the Code. Similarly on the same day presenters, Bluetooth and Bigmo hyped for Techno Phantom 5 Waka “superior downright performance camera, e dey crystal clear, the picture na die…” The advert of Prophet JK Hephzibah aka Baba Peculiar aired on January 14, 2016 contained claims to provide solutions to people that communicate with the dead in the dream, people that eat in the dream which is an attack of darkness, people that have sexual intercourse in the dream, people that have experienced cobwebs for 2 or 3 years which could lead to blindness, seeing and seeing themselves in the village”; breaching Sections 7.5.1(a) and (c) and 4.3.1(f) and (g) of the Code.
Station was also cautioned on the choice of topic for discussion. The worrisome topic on People’s Talk aired on January 18, 2016 was, “Parents are the worst thieves in our lives” a guest on the programme made insulting remarks against actress Mercy Johnson that “she no just get sense”, for saying she will not allow her children to act”. In the same vein, the station was warned as presenter, Expensive used his platform to attack and mock the regulatory operations of NBC “…I no fit hype, Na regulators give us that regulation and we know why… even for my own station, before you know dem go bring one letter. If regulators no know their work, we wey no be regulators we go regulate them…” Station was also warned for airing an advert of VM Technology with unsubstantiated claims which contravenes Section 7.0.18 of the Code.
Aso FM Abuja was fined One Hundred Thousand Naira (₦100,000) for airing a musical of Eamon titled “Fuck it” on January 20, 2016 with vulgar lyrics like as it contravenes Section 18.104.22.168(c) of the Code.
Kogi FM, Lokoja was fined One Hundred Thousand Naira (₦100,000) for airing an NTTB musical of Beyoncé titled “Drunk in love” on January 22, 2016 as it contravened Section 3.1.6 of the Code.
CHANNELS TV Abuja was advised to repackage an advert of Vasoprin Tab aired on January 14, 2016 with claims to prevent serious ailments such as stroke and heart attack; thus contravening Section 7.3.5 of the Code.
Silverbird TV, Abuja was warned for airing musicals of M.I Abaga titled “Bullion Van” and Dr. Sid titled “Kabiyesi” portraying ostentatious lifestyles, breaching Section 3.7.11 of the Code.
HOT FM was warned for airing an advert of VM Technology aired on January 16, 2016 with unsubstantiated claims which contravenes Section 7.0.18 of the Code.
Crowther Love FM, Abuja was warned for misuse of platform as Presenter, Ahmed Isah on programme Brekete Family aired on January 18, 19 and 20, 2016 made inciting and derogatory remarks about some Government Institution and Polish Embassy excerpts: “National Rights Commission don die, dem no dey work; “Ministry of Foreign Affairs no dey work. Ministry of Foreign Affairs na eye service”. He said of the Polish Consular: “he is a racist…dem want make the girl be like Polish women, wey dem no dey go school, if dem go Germany, na house girl dem dey do and selling body…” This contravenes Sections 1.9.3, 3.3.1 and 3.3.2 of the Code.
Station was also cautioned for airing an advert of VM Technology aired on January 16, 2016 with unsubstantiated claims which contravenes Section 7.0.18 of the Code.
Kapital FM, Abuja was cautioned for airing an infomercial where a guest on January 30, 2016 made unverifiable claims about an internet business where he claimed that with just ₦8,500 participants who attend the launch will start making ₦100,000 monthly and even more breaching Sections 7.0.18 and 3.2.1 of the Code.
Grace FM, Lokoja was cautioned over musicals with antisocial theme titled “Break the Rules” by Charlie XCX, aired on January 20, 2016 with indecent lyrics like “I don’t wanna go to school, I just wanna break the rules” it contravenes Section 4.2.1 of the Code.
TAO FM Okene was warned for contravening Section 7.0.20 of the Code in respect of advert of Home Bakery and Confectionery Ltd voiced by Presenter and Newscaster Isa James on January 26, 2016.
Crystal FM, Minna was advised to stop the advert of a trado-medic, Tijani Maikada aired on January 20, 2016 with claims to cure problems of infertility, pile, diabetics and irregular menstruation as it breached Sections 7.3.7 and 7.3.18 of the Code.
Raypower FM, Ilorin was advised to repackage a programme titled “How Market” aired on January 6, 2016 with superlatives where a seller made a comment saying that “Thermocool is where you can get the “best” product you can think of, that is why it has been the “best” so far unlike other products that are usually faulty” as this contravenes Sections 8.2.2 and 7.0.22 of the Code. Also, station was warned for breaching Section 3.6.1 of the Code on the programme Eto Baba Eto aired on January 15, 2016 where presenter was credited to have condemned “Co-operate begging” using indecent language. He said “… Awon oloshimegi feba business je fun wabayi…” (These two unworthy people want to spoil business for us). Furthermore, station was advised to desist as a news and current affairs presenter contravened Section 7.0.20 of the Code on January 22, 2016 voicing an advert of “Shirt and Tie Centre”.
FRCN Harmony FM Ilorin was warned for contravening Sections 3.3.1, 4.3.1(f) and 7.5.1(a) of the Code and advised not to encourage Islamic Clerics to advertise products for serious ailment; as some of Al-Medina Store was advertised with claims to cure blood pressure, treat hypertension with assertions that all these products are prophetic medicines with evidences in the hadith aired on January 20, 2016.
Midland FM, Ilorin was advised to discontinue the advert of “Kolag Cleanser” which offers treatment for blood cure and weight reduction aired on January 30, 2016 which contravenes Section 7.3.10 of the Code.
Okin FM, Ilorin was warned and advised to discontinue airing a trado-medic advert of Alhaji Olorunkemi Olorungbebe aired on January 25, 2016 with unverifiable claims to increase libido, treat sexual weakness and also claims to offer treatment for glaucoma and cataract; thereby breaching Sections 7.3.5 and 7.3.18 of the Code.
EBBC RADIO (98.1MHz) ABAKALIKI was issued a final warning on January 16, 2016 between 6:45pm and 6:50pm for airing a commentary on the Biblical history of the first born child, listeners were invited to a Church programme for solutions in breach of Sections 5.1.3 and 8.1.10. Station was also cautioned on January 20, 2016 to desist from airing sponsored reports as part of news.
VISION AFRICA RADIO (104.1FM) UMUAHIA was issued a final warning on the broadcast of adverts with superlatives. Station on January 27, 2016 at 7:54am aired the advert of Jonas Gas, as “Best gas dealer” breaching Section 7.0.14 of the Code.
FRCN (HEARTLAND) 100.1FM, OWERRI was cautioned and advised to stop further broadcast of advert until repackaged. Station on January 16, 2016 at 11:02am aired a trado-medic advert of Papa and Mama Dada with claims to cure infertility, in violation of Section 7.3.7 of the Code.
Station was also issued a final warning on the broadcast of adverts with superlatives on January 29, 2016 at 6:38am and 3:37pm respectively for advert of Vinal Aluminum which claimed to have aluminum products of super high quality and “their prices are cheapest” contravenes Section 7.0.14 of the Code.
IBC FM (ORIENT FM) OWERRI 94.4 MHZ was advised to stop further broadcast of all trado-medical adverts due to recurrent breaches. Station was on January 29, 2016 at 9:22pm aired the advert of Iya Amina who claims to cure all types of eye problems, and advert of First Son Herbal Home with spurious claims like: drug called “Ike Anunuebe that cures all types of poison, Ike Mkpi drug that cures all men sexual weakness, libido, both old and new diseases, See well 1 & 2 drug that cures all eye problems, and diagnostic machine that diagnoses all kinds of diseases.
The advert lasted 2mins. 30 seconds and violates Sections 7.3.5, 7.3.18, and 7.0.10 of the Code.
HOT 99.5 FM, OWERRI was warned against broadcast of advert with superlatives. Station on January 28, 2016 at 9:32am aired the advert of Vinal Aluminum which claimed to be of highest quality accessories, super high quality standard, its price is the cheapest, breaching Section 7.0.14 of the Code.
ODENIGBO FM OBOSI 99.1 MHZ was cautioned and advised to stop further broadcast of advert until repackaged. Station on January 27, 2016 at 8:52am aired Lico Natural Fruit Drink advert with spurious claims to fight serious ailments and diseases like cancer and diabetes. The drink was also described as “Miracle fruit drink for all ages”, which violates Sections 7.3.7 and 7.3.9 of the Code.
ETV (STAR T.V) ENUGU 50 UHF, Station Manager was invited to a meeting over recurrent breaches. Station aired foreign programmes on January 8, 2016 during family belt breaching Section 1.16.1 of the Code.
NTA ENUGU, CHANNEL 8 UHF was cautioned against none logo embossment and the use of scroll bars for adverts. Station’s logo was not displayed throughout the broadcast of January 13, 2016 between 5:00pm – 5.30pm, and the use of scroll bar to publicize Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) monthly programme at Redemption Camp Kilometer 46, express way, Lagos. This breached Sections 1.3.4 and 3.1.14 of the Code.
FRCN (COAL CITY FM) 92.9 FM was advised against the broadcast of adverts containing spurious claims. Station aired the advert of Oosa Herbal Clinic Promo on January 12, 2016 at 1:20pm with claims to cure all types of sickness. This contravenes Section 7.3.5 of the Code.
DREAM FM 92.5 FM was advised to caution presenter against hypes and to also repackage advert. A presenter with the station, Jude hyped the services of Airtel on January 12, 2016 thus: “… people should register and buy Airtel line that he is giving out airtime”. Advert of Peace Mass Transit Ltd was aired on January 16, 2016 with the statement “Your journey with Peace Mass Transit Ltd guarantees you safety comfort and reliability”. This violates Sections 7.0.15 and 7.0.31 of the Code.
Station was also warned for advertising of Katoka Mixture on January 27, 2016 at 8:35am with spurious claims “If disease put bad wedge for your body take Katoka mixures knack all those sickness wahala one blow, I akpus whether na malaria, fever, headache, typhoid fever, body pains, stomach ache rheumatism or to even fight all those bacteria way dey cause infection, na Katakata mixture go make your health stand gidigbam all the time”. Sections 7.3.3 and 7.0.18 of the Code were violated.
NTA, Ibadan was fined ₦200,000 (Two hundred thousand naira) for promotion of alcoholic beverage as a news item and before the stipulated time with an endorsement by the newscaster. These are breaches of Sections 5.1.18, 7.0.15 and 7.0.20 of the Code.
Amuludun FM, Ibadan was fined ₦200,000 (Two hundred thousand naira) for Sundry breaches on endorsement Section 7.0.15, religion as a subject of an infomercial Sections 8.2.5 and 3.2.1, and excessive advertisement duration Section 7.0.10 of the Code.
Oluyole FM was fined ₦200,000 (Two hundred thousand naira) on January 13, 2016 for sundry infringement of the Code on advertisement.
OGTV, Abeokuta was fined ₦100,000 (One hundred thousand naira) on January 4, 2016 for advertisement of alcoholic beverage outside stipulated time, thereby breaching Section 7.4.4 of the Code.
Raypower FM, Ibadan was fined ₦100,000 (One hundred thousand naira) on January 14, 2016, for airing musical with vulgar lyrics, breaching Sections 3.6.1 and 22.214.171.124(c) of the Code.
Raypower FM, Oshogbo was fined ₦100,000 (One hundred thousand naira) on January 19, 2016 for unprofessional handling of a Phone-in programme and endorsement by presenter. Sections 1.9.4 and 7.0.15 of the Code were breached.
Splash FM, Ibadan was on January 7, 2016 issued a final warning to comply with the provisions of the Code on advertisement breaches.
Paramount FM, Abeokuta was issued a final warning on January 10, 2016 for lack of straight dealing. This contravene Section 3.2.1 of the Code.
BCOS TV, Ibadan was issued a final warning on January 14, 2016 to comply with the provisions of the Code on advertisement breaches.
Fresh FM, Ibadan was on January 16, 2016 directed to stop an advertisement with the word “magical” which breaches Section 7.3.9 of the Code.
Lagelu FM, Ibadan was warned on January 15, 2016 for endorsement of sponsors by presenters which breach Section 7.0.15 of the Code.
MITV, Ibadan was on January 15, 2016 warned for airing a musical with ostentatious lifestyle, breaching Section 3.7.11 of the Code.
Rock City FM, Abeokuta was on January 19, 2016 issued a final warning to comply with the provision of the Code on excessive advertisement duration; in breach of Section 7.0.10 of the Code.
Crown FM, Ile-Ife was warned on January 20, 2016 on endorsement which violates Section 7.0.15 of the Code.
Petals FM, Ibadan was warned on January 19, 2016. On endorsement of sponsors by presenters, a breach of Section 7.0.15 of the Code.
Galaxy TV, Ibadan was on January 22, 2016 directed to stop an advertisement with the use of a superlative.
TSBS AM Jalingo was warned for airing inflammatory and provocative statement by S.A Media Mr. Sylvanus Giwa, against Senator Aisha Alhassan contrary to Sections 3.3.3, 3.4.2, 4.5.1 and 5.2.7 of the Code.
Station was also warned and asked to balance its political discussion on “Bur Game”, in which a panel of discussants did not represent APC, contrary to Sections 4.11, 5.2.19 and 5.2.20 of the Code.
Station was also warned for airing advert “Booster” a medical product purporting to increase libido and correct sexual weakness, without the necessary health caution. This contravenes Sections 7.3.17, 7.3.5, 7.3.18, 7.0.9 and 7.3.6 of the Code.
Highland FM, Jos was warned for breaching Sections 7.3.16 and 7.35 of the Code. Station during its programme Health matters, use the title ‘Dr’ on a person that is not a registered Medical Practioner and promote cure for serious diseases.
BRC I (AM) Bauchi was warned and advised to repackage advert. Station aired a trado-medic advert of “Cibiyar Danfodio Islamic Foundation” with claims to cure infertility and sexual weaknesses. This breached Section 7.3.18 of the Code.
DITV Kaduna was cautioned for breaching Section 3.7.11 of the Code. The station broadcast musical with ostentatious lifestyle, spraying money on January 14, 2016.
NAGARTA Radio Kaduna was warned against overheating the polity in the intra party crisis amongst APC supporters of Kaduna State Governor Ahmed El-Rufai and Senator Shehu Sani; in breach of Sections 4.5.1 and 3.1.2 of the Code. The broadcast contained unfair remarks against party stalwart Alh. Umar Gana and allegation that Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai paid some APC youth Five Hundred Thousand Naira at Polo Club to suspend Senator Shehu Sani.
Station was also cautioned for claiming that the United Nations has a rule which allows Generals in the Army to shoot three people without probe, the third query was for breaching Sections 4.5.1, 5.1.4 and 5.1.12 of the Code where Hajia Naja’atu Muhammad on January 17, 2016 made unsubstantiated/unbalanced remarks against NBC/DG. The Station however, responded remorsefully and assured to be more professional.
Raypower FM Kaduna was warned on January 12, 2016 for playing musical with indecent lyrics titled Rock with me by Pleasure ft Plies thus: “My sex better than weed mixed with molly, girl…Just I can fuck it out your system…, get so wet for me” This violates Section 126.96.36.199(c) of the Code.
Liberty TV Kaduna was cautioned for breaching Section 3.7.11 of the Code for broadcast of musical displaying ostentatious lifestyle of spraying money on January 14, 2016. The station was also cautioned for the broadcast of a contrived and unbalanced Vox Pop on January 14, 2016, on the defacing of EFCC evidence by Mr. Olisa Metuh.
Capital Sound FM Kaduna was visited for recurring broadcast of back-to-back adverts and use of superlative in advertisements, in breach of Sections 1.5(d) and 7.0.14. Instances are; Fidelity and Heritage Bank on January 19, 2016. Also Omo Detergent with superlative “Best ever stain removal from Omo” on January 14, 2016.
NTA Dutse was warned to rectify none functional aviation warning light in breach of Section 188.8.131.52 of the Code and none embossment of stations logo during broadcast of Local News on January 25 and 29, 2016, breaching Section 1.3.4 of the Code.
Horizon FM Dutse was warned to rectify none functional Aviation Warning Light in compliance to Section 184.108.40.206 of the Code. The station was also off air between January 29, and 31 2016 in breach of Section 12.10.1 of the Code.
Rahama Radio Kano was invited for dialogue on recurring broadcast of Capsules purported to increase Libido for both men and women, “Adam and Eve Desire” on January 6 and 9, 2016, violating Section 7.3.18 of the Code.
Freedom FM Kano was invited for dialogue on recurring broadcast of Trado Medic adverts violating Sections 7.3.7, 7.3.5 and 7.3.18 of the Code. Especially advert of Alh. Tijjani Mai Kada Dan Borno containing spurious claims to cure menstruation problem, miscarriage, and women infertility on January 9 and 10, 2016.
Wazobia/Cool FM Kano was invited for dialogue on recurring Trado Medic advert of Hajiya Bilkisu “The Obonge Woman” which contains claims to cure infertility on January 4 and 10, 2016 violating Section 7.3.18 of the Code.
Radio Kano AM was warned for violating Section 7.0.18 of the Code for broadcast of Trado medic Infomercial of Alhuda Islamic Centre which claims to cure every spiritual problem forever such as, madness, disobedience to parent, brain tonic, etc on January 23, 2016.
Raypower FM Kano was warned for violating Section 7.3.5 of the Code during broadcast of Trado medic advert of Hajiya Bilkisu which claims to cure, sexual weakness, itching in private part, miscarriage, back pain, abdominal pain, “everything you are feeling in the body”, etc. on January 23, 2016.
Vision FM Katsina was cautioned and asked to balance the subsequent episode. Station featured an unbalanced programme on January 13, 2016 where panelists criticized Government policy without due representation in breach of Section 3.3.3 of the Code.
AIT Kano was cautioned for Broadcast of Hausa Music (by Shariff ft. Baballe Hayatu) displaying Ostentatious life style of spraying money on January 22, 2016 which violates Section 3.7.11 of the Code.
Express FM Radio Kano was warned and advised to be more professional in programming. Station on January 28, 2016 revealed identity of two boys who allegedly attempted to rape a girl. Their names and location were mentioned in the report, breaching Sections 4.2.2(L) of the Code.
The zone is still contending with the problem of hyping. The following stations were cautioned seriously to desist from this act. RADIO CONTINENTAL, RADIO LAGOS, TOP FM on January 5, 2016, INSPIRATION FM - January 11 and 18, 2016, BOND FM - January 21, 2016, WAZOBIA - January 26, 2016 and FAAJI FM on January 29, 2016.
WAZOBIA FM was cautioned several times for continuous violation of various sections of the Code ranging from excessive adverts, hyping and lack of professionalism by presenters breaching Sections 7.0.10, 7.4.4, and 7.0.15 of the Code – Issues finally resolved at a meeting with station’s management in the zonal office.
CHANNELS TV was requested to stop “Erisco Food” advert with spurious and unverifiable claims breaching Section 7.0.18 of the Code. The same advert was broadcast on the Network Service of NTA.
STV was warned for broadcasting musicals with obscene vulgar and indecent dance steps that violate Sections 3.6.1, 3.1.6, 220.127.116.11(c) of the Code.
RADIO LAGOS, and BOND FM were cautioned to stop the advertisement of medicine and products that require the attention of a qualified registered medical practitioner as stipulated in Section 7.3.5 of the Code.
MITV was cautioned to discontinue the broadcast of advertisement of products that violate Sections 7.0.18, 7.025 and 7.3.5 of the Code.
GALAXY was cautioned and advised to reschedule a programme that deals with sex and sexuality to watershed time as it violates Sections 4.2.2(b) and 1.5(c) of the Code.
ONTV was cautioned for continuous violation of Sections 4.2.2(f), 3.10.1, 3.6.1 and 18.104.22.168(c) of the Code. The station is still being seriously monitored for its excesses on a daily basis.
NTA Gombe was cautioned on January 16, 2016 for airing unscheduled programme “Sport Arena” in place of scheduled one “I love Nigeria”, which breached Section 3.4.7 of the Code.
GMC FM was cautioned for playing musicals for 1 hour without station identification during its programme “Zaben Rana” aired on January 14, 2016 at 2:00pm. This violates Section 1.3.3 of the Code.
GMTV was cautioned on absence of station logo during the programme “the mastery of fight” aired on January 19, 2016 between 5:00pm and 6:00pm. This violates Section 1.3.1 of the Code.
FRCN Fombina was warned and advised to withdraw advert. Station on January 19, 2016 between 10:30am and 11:00am, aired trado-medic advert with claims to increase libido, treat sexual weakness and infertility during the programme “Rai Dangin Goro”. This violates Section 7.3.18 of the Code.
Radio Gotel AM was cautioned for airing a trado-medic advert during its programme “Kofli” aired on January 26, 2016 with myths by one Ali Ibn Ali whom claims to treat victims of witchcraft by using various methods”. This violates Section 7.3.11 of the Code.
TV Gotel was warned for broadcasting BBC sponsored program on HIV and Aids “Wetin Day” on January 21, 2016 between 2:30pm and 3:00pm which promotes Condom with sex related discussed. This violates Sections 1.16, 3.6.1 and 3.11 of the Code.
NTA Damaturu was cautioned on none logo embossment during the programme “from the Government house’’ aired on January 17, 2016. This violates Section 1.3.4 of the Code.
ABC Yola FM was warned and asked to stop or repackage advert to comply with the provisions of the Code. Station aired a trado-Medic advert by one Baba Dan Auta on January 29, 2016 at 5:47pm whom claims to treat sexual weakness and infertility. This violates Section 7.3.18 of the Code.
NTA Sokoto and Vision FM, Sokoto were warned on January 31, 2016 respectively for airing adverts of Chivita fruits that contained use of superlative “100%”; and advert of Jedo Computer Training Centre described as best without ASP certification. This breached Section 7.0.14 of the Code.
The following stations were cautioned for violating Section 3.4.7 of the Code. RTV Sokoto on January 17 and 26, 2016, Zamfara Radio AM on January 8, 13, 18 and 28, 2016, KBC on January 20, 2016, NTA KB January 19, 2016 and Pride FM on January 29, 2016 were cited respectively for programming failures, programmes swap, delayed programming and or technical difficulties in smooth programming without recourse to viewers/listeners.
Vision FM was warned on January 21, 2016 for airing trado-medical advert of Danfodio Islamic Centre breaching Section 7.3.18 of the Code.
Pride FM Gusau was cautioned on January 19, 2016 for violating Section 7.0.15 of the Code through Products endorsement by on – air personalities Nusaiba Saleh Jibrin and Nasiru Musa Adakpa.
Equity FM was cautioned and given 14 days to remedy breach. Section 22.214.171.124 of the Code on provision of Aviation Warning Lights was breached.
Family Love FM, Port Harcourt was warned on January 6, 2016 for presenting a religious programme for Royal Foundation Church with Pastor Smart Egbene where the presenter named Karen announced the scheduled programme with excerpt “Listen to the programme, Royal Foundation with Pastor Dr. Smart Egbene. Something about this man that is peculiar is the way he says the word. He doesn’t care whose feet his stepping on, he just believe he ought to tell you the truth whether you like it or not”. This breached Section 1.9.3 of the Code.
CRBC Radio was cautioned and asked to desist. A presenter with the station during its Programme “Metro Half Hour” aired on January 9, 2016 promoted Transcorp Metropolitan Hotel, thus “It is the best place to stay when you visit Calabar”. This contravenes Sections 7.0.15 and 7.0.20 of the Code.
NTA Channel 9, Calabar on January 9, 2016 was requested to restore their aviation warning light without further delay. The station has been transmitting without Pilot Warning Light. This breached Section 126.96.36.199 of the Code.
Cool FM, Port Harcourt on January 12, 2016, was requested to produce off-air recording of programme for further evaluation as presenters Iso and Elvis in the programme Road Show (an entertainment segment) referred to NBC as the “people banning the songs of Artist or preventing them from relaying their musicals”. “We read the man at the helms of affairs of NBC is under investigation running into billions”, Iso questioned, if they should be happy?” Elvis responded some artist will be popping champagne. Rhythm 93.7FM, Port Harcourt on January 16, 2016 was warned to desist for airing the programme, View Point with Topic: Erectile Dysfunction in a belt other than the audit belt where station featured a medical practitioner named Dr. Adekunle Oluwanti who discussed elaborately on erectile dysfunction in men. The content of broadcast was characterized with talks of sexual intercourse; people calling to complain of having quick ejaculation during sexual intercourse, how they don’t enjoy sex for long hours, that once they touch a woman’s lap their sperm comes pouring out etcetera. This contravenes Sections 7.3.18 and 1.9.4 of the Code.
Canaan City FM, Calabar was cautioned and advised to desist or face sanction for airing a weekend Jam programme on January 18, 2016, where a regular newscaster/presenter was repeatedly promoting Channel View Hotel and Chinese restaurant as the best place to stay, then get the best food in that Chinese Restaurant. This contravenes Section 7.0.20 of the Code.
